Father's Day 2010

Well happy father's day to all you fathers out there. And especially to my father, my husband, and my father-in-law. I can't believe how blessed I am to have such great men in my life.

Scott, you are the most amazing husband ever, and every day I am more and more impressed with what a great father you are. I remember on our first date you told me that you planned to get married and start a family in the next year. Wow, was that a quick time-line. Little did I know at the time that I would be the one that you would take that journey with...

lucky me.

Here are a few things that I think make you a great Father.

1. You teach by example.
2. You love unconditionally.
3. You see the potential in others and expect them to live up to it.
4. You inspire others.
5. You teach all lessons by likening them to the scriptures and you can reference and recite the scriptures that you use.
6. You work hard everyday, and you are teaching our children to learn the value of work by working along side of them.
7. You don't put off 'til tomorrow what can be done today.
8. You have a respect for money and the value of a dollar and you not only live within your means, but you live without some of your wants.
9. You always put your family first.
10. You love the Lord and you live by his word.
11. You have kept the covenants you have made to me and to our Heavenly Father.
12. You teach the kids to respect me and to honor me as their mother.
13. You would be willing to work 10 jobs if you had to in order to keep me home with our children.
14. You always clean toilets, scrub floors, vacuum carpet, change diapers, wash cars,  mow lawn, do dishes, dress kids, wash clothes....all domestic responsibilities that should fall on my shoulders...you do so without being asked and you do them daily. This is one of the most precious gifts you give me and our children daily because you do whatever is needed, when it is needed, without being asked, because you love us...and care for our needs. True service.

Lessons that I've heard you teach our children.
(There are so many, I could go on and on. Here are a few.)

"Where do you put your money?  IN THE BANK!"

"You should never get something for nothing"

"By the sweat of thy brow"

"Ye are my friends if ye do what I say"

"These things are but a vapor"

Nothing like a simple BBQ request for Father's Day. And you even did the BBQing.

Kentucky Louisville Mission Reunion April 2010

We had a great time attending Scott's mission reunion this April. I absolutely love his mission president, President Michael Cannon and we are lucky that they live so close to us. (Rexburg). We had not seen them since they had us over for dinner right after Kate was born, so we were very happy to get to chat with them at the reunion.

Scott and I weren't the only ones that loved seeing President Cannon. Sawyer took an immediate liking to him and wouldn't let go of him. Pres. Cannon had to hold him for over 30 minutes. Believe me, this is no small task. Sawyer wouldn't even come to me and that had never happened before. Instant Pals.
(Can someone please tell me how they come up with the maximum occupancy as 339? I'm just wondering.)

Please can I just nibble on Sawyers cheeks for a few minutes!
He also ended up sporting President Cannon's name tag.

Scott was able to chat will his old friends and it was fun meeting them all. We gathered together for a meeting and I was very touched as President and Sister Cannon spoke to us. Again, President Cannon held Sawyer through his entire talk because Sawyer was so drawn to him.

When we went to leave the church we realized that our car had been broken into. Cell phones both gone along with Scott's Wallet. Lovely, huh. Thankfully my parents drove to West Jordan to pick us up and another missionary at the reunion had a glass repair business. Nice.
A few days later someone found Scott's wallet and found and contacted him via Facebook. It is a
crazy world that we live in these days. Technology and social networking blow my mind.

For Time & All Eternity...

What a great month April was. It isn't everyday that you get to see your little brother wed to a great woman
for Time and All Eternity...

The wedding was beautiful. It was wonderful. It was special. It was fun.
It was a party. A huge celebration.

And it isn't very often that I post pictures of myself. I somehow have it in my mind that if people don't see me, they will think that I'm still skinny and in shape.
Well, NEWS FLASH PEOPLE...I am 35 lbs overweight.
(I can't believe I just said that.)

So enjoy these photos, and know that they come only after sucking up my pride majorly and putting it out there to you all that...I need to lose some weight.
Somehow it just feels better to acknowledge it.

Is getting together with family the best or what? I had so much fun on this trip. I'm so blessed to be surrounded by such great Men and Women.

(Sawyer fell down the stairs (yes...totally my fault...slap hand, bad mom) a few days before the wedding and sported a serious carpet burn across his nose for the wedding.
The details of the wedding were so whimsical and pretty and I could have stayed at the reception for days and days and days. I'm sure the Patterson's would not have appreciated me moving in, so I left.
But I still WISH I was dancing with Geoff, Sawyer, Kate Bug, Jaime, Anne, Spears, Jayne and my momma!

Sawyer also got out and danced a solo and had quite the crowd circled around him cheering,
"Go Sawyer, Go Sawyer Go"!
We danced and danced and from the looks of the photo's, it is pretty amazing that my boobs didn't fall out of my dress as I danced. Good Grief!
Anne, I had so much fun living it up with you to the Black-Eyed Peas.
Anners, "I've got a feeling" that you've got moves!
And to my mom...Beautiful Terry, look at you...almost 55 and simply stunning!

Thanks Geoff!
