The Standard Of Truth / El Estandar De La Verdad ~ Free Printable

One of my favorite memorized quotes is this one by the prophet Joseph Smith. As a missionary I found great power, strength and faith reciting it daily. I love it dearly and feel strongly that knowing it by heart has greatly blessed my life.

I've made some simply subway art to help you memorize it too.

This was a huge hit last year so we are going to play this game again as a family for this weekends General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The last time the winner was Dylan and he got a Super Date with Scott.

I was hoping to win;)

But seriously the kids loved it and so did Scott!

I lost big time so I'm due.

Let me know if you guys have fun playing this game.

There is a list of current General Authorities Here.

Curious about General Conference?  Watch this video.

Fantasy General Conference October 2013

Scott introduced this idea to our family at FHE last week and promised DADDY DATES to the kids for getting the best scores.  I asked him if I got a DADDY DATE too for winning and he replied, "of course", so I warned the kids that I am taking them down. And I really hope to, because Daddy Dates are awesome!!! And Daddy/Mommy dates are divine;)

I thought others might be interested in playing too. I can't imagine any teenagers not being interested in playing, and it might make them pay attention to ALL of General Conference! Wouldn't that be great.

I.
Love.
Conference.

I put together a quick printable for you guys to use.

And there are other options like the one found  HERE

And you can view a current list of all Leadership positions  HERE

And my 30 Day Read The New Testament before Conference is going amazing and I will post about that later.;)

Preparing for General Conference October 2013

I've been trying to decide what I can do to spiritually prepare for General Conference next month. I have decided that I am going to read The New Testament in 30 days.

It will be a challenge.

I will have to average reading 8.67 chapters a day, or roughly 30 minutes of reading.

If I start today I will finish the entire New Testament the morning of the first session of conference on Saturday, October 5.

In order to help me stay on track I have created a 30 Day New Testament Reading Schedule. I would love to have some company if any of you feel motivated to start this challenge with me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
To those who join me...
Here is to increased knowledge, more sincere prayer, more inspiration from the Holy Ghost, a deeper understanding of the gospel, a stronger desire to keep the commandments and a closer relation to Christ.
*These Printable bookmark schedules are PDF files and should print out easily from your computer. There are two color choices. Please let me know how you like them and how your 30 day challenge goes.
Alright, I finished my day 1 reading.
Now hurry and catch up!!!
Wednesday: Did You Know?
1.  I took the kids swimming on Saturday night. I sat on the edge of the pool with some friends and watched the kids swim. The Blackfoot Pool is trying to come up with 200,000 dollars to make some renovations and I have mixed feelings about this. They sincerely need to renovate, but I wonder if the building is a lost cause. I'm not sure that it would be enough money to  really do what needs to be done. Let's just say that pieces of the ceiling  fall on you sometimes. You heard me right. My kids love it there, but it needs some SERIOUS work.
 2. Dylan turns eight next month. He is so excited. He will be able to be baptized and he is really looking forward to it. He also can't wait to get the Gift of the Holy Ghost.
3. Wyatt is crazy. CRAZY. He is so busy I don't know what to do. He is all over the place and into EVERYTHING. I have a hard enough time keeping the messes to a minimum. Sheesh.
4. Dylan and Ryan are the same age and have the same teeth. Isn't this stage adorable. Oh my heavens those huge teeth in their little cute mouths crack me up. So Fun.
* Free Printable {Here}
5. I love Grey and Yellow and this free printable from Persnickety Prints is adorable. You can find it at the link above. Tell Chari that I sent you!!!
6. I need to get to the gym today. NEED TO.
7. I almost have sugar out of my system. I'm feeling so much better. Why couldn't I have just said NO to the Christmas goodies?
8. I am not too into politics, but I am behind Mitt Romney at this point. I like Newt Gingrich, have a crush on Rick Perry (the same one I have on George W. Bush. It must be that Texas Blood and slow accent.) I think Ron Paul is smart but crazy, and John Huntsman comes off so arrogant to me. JUST MY OPINIONS.
9. I am about ready to rip my hand-me-down couches out of my living room. I can't stand them anymore. Scott has told me about 10,000 times to go and buy new ones, but I don't know what I want. I am TOO Indecisive.
10. I love my husband. He loves me. We have 4 crazy kids and I feel really busy all of a sudden. Why do I feel so busy? Oh ya, because this is my busy month for work. I do the accounting for our businesses and I need to get out all the w-2's, finish my year end taxes, and get the books ready for the professional accountants.
Bonus: Downton Abbey
I may have watched the entire first season and the newest episode in two days. SO GOOD. OH my starts I am a sucker for stuff like this. Love it!
Have you seen this Show?
Are you busy this time of year?
My Best Advice...
I had the privilege of Serving as a Missionary for my Church in Seattle, Washington.
My companion, Sister Tazalaar, shared one of her mother's pearls of wisdom & I have never forgotten it.
*Free Printable {Here}
I think about this all the time.
The Mother yelling at her children in the middle of Target.
The rude customer service Representative.
The man that cuts you off and then the driver behind you who blares their horn.
The chain smoker sitting on the curb.
The Dr. that cuts open your bladder. ;)
The husband who forgets your anniversary.
The children that don't seem to appreciate you.
Sometimes the only thing we can do is to give people the BENEFIT of the Doubt.
Maybe people are doing their best. Maybe they aren't. But who am I to judge?
All I can do is show them Love.
I think about this all the time.
And I try to love EVERYBODY.
A lot.
And I do.
Love EVERYBODY.
A.
Lot.
(Sister Tazalaar's mother was also a professional packer, who taught people who traveled a lot how to pack their bags. You will never believe how amazing her packing skills were. This was a Missionary's dream. Maybe I feel a tutorial coming on. It would be my first ya know.)
*******Edited Correction: Audrey Merrill (Sister Tazalaar) just informed me that this quote did NOT come from her mother...she heard it at the MTC (Missionary Training Center). Well, regardless...I love it. And feel free to check out her website. She might just save you some SERIOUS cash. For Real.
The Book Of Mormon: 30 Day Reading Schedule
Who has time to read The Book Of Mormon?
I don't. You don't.
Who has time to brush their teeth, get the Laundry done, and scrub the Baseboards either?
Does anybody really have time?
Time vanishes in an instant. The Truth is that we only have time for what we MAKE TIME FOR.
Let me tell you what I make time for.
  • Phone calls with friends
  • Facebook/Blogging
  • Reading USA Today
  • Watching Movies
  • Crafts
  • Coloring my hair
  • Taking naps
  • Baking
  • Exercise
  • Homework with the kids
  • Housework
  • Laundry
  • Brushing my teeth
  • Going to church
Here is one more Truth.  I haven't read The Book Of Mormon cover to cover since I was a Missionary. This makes me sad. I've fallen into the Mind Set that "I just don't have time", when in reality it just hasn't been a priority. And somehow seeing my husband faithfully study his scriptures has foolishly given me the assurance that "we" are a house of Study, even a house of Faith. Shame on me. I  KNOW better. I know that scripture study isn't something on a checklist that you just cross off each day. I've suffered by not diligently and consistently feasting on the Word of God. I've distanced myself from the most important tool we have to draw closer to the Savior.
So rather than dwell on the past, I'm here to resolve to change, and I'm going to.
I've decided to participate in The Book Of Mormon Forum taking place over at BeingLDS.
The Book of Mormon Forum
I've also decided to:
READ THE BOOK OF MORMON IN OCTOBER!!!
Yes you read that right...I am going to FIND THE TIME.
And while I know that reading it quickly doesn't make up for lost time, I still don't want to put it off for another second.
So why don't you join me in reading it?
Do you want to? Do you need to? Do you need your own copy?
Feel free to email me your name and address at erin{dot}anytimefitness{at}gmail{dot}com and I will make sure to send you a FREE copy.
I am going to include my proposed reading schedule for the Month of October. I did not create this reading schedule, although I did make a document for you so that you can print it for yourself. The original was found {Here}.
Download Free Reading Schedule{Here}
And don't be shy. Let me know how your scripture study is going.
What helps you find the time to study?
How do you feel if you miss your daily scripture study?
How has The Book Of Mormon influenced your life?
Credit Card Fraud = Horror...American Express Blue = Love.
Last month Dominic Cifarelli  and Morokath Redman used my credit card to rack up over $6000.00 dollars in Airline tickets. I'm sure you can imagine the anxiety and the panic that I felt when I opened up my credit card statement.
Oh.
My.
Word.
It amazes me that people are okay with being so dishonest.
It totally blows my mind.
Maybe they didn't have a good mom like I did who made them walk back into the grocery store at the age of six and return the stolen candy-bar. Or maybe they just need a Bishop that looks them in the eye's every year and asks them if they are honest in ALL their dealings.
I just don't get it.
Needless to say I felt violated.
So I called up American Express to try and resolve the issue and their customer service was EXCELLENT.
Not only did they treat me like I was the victim, they didn't blame me or try to ask me a million questions. They just thanked me for my ongoing membership and took care of it all for me.
Took.
Care.
Of.
It.
People, this really happened. Like, in real life.
They just took care of it for me.
What?
Amazing. And I promise that this is not an advertisement for American Express. But I will be a Member for Life.
AmEx = Love
Liars = Stoopid (with two o's)
PS. I found this crazy lady picture on the web, but I think it kind of looks like me if you don't look to close and if you blur your eyes a little and if the room is dim. ;)
